I have imported a Quicken file which lists a number of shares as
"managed fund" under investment type. How can I change this to a
share? There does not seem to be an appropriate option under the
investment details screen. I don't want to have to create a new
investment etc if I can change the existing share type.

Thanks

If you can access Quicken, try opening a copy of your Quicken file.
Then change each investment you want to be a share in money as a
type called "Shares". Then convert the revised Quicken file into
Money.

In Money (M2K), as far as I know, you can't change the Investment Type, from
'managed fund' to 'share'.

The advice from Bob and Cal, to adjust Quicken before conversion into Money,
sounds good.

If you decide to create new investments you will probably lose 'share price
history' and for that reason alone I would not go this way.

Whilst Money will produce reports that segregate 'Shares' from 'Managed
Funds' (Reports / Investments / Portfolio Value by Investment Type), you can
customise reports of this sort (under the 'Rows & Columns' tab change
'Subtotal by:' in the drop down menu from 'Investment Types' to either
'None' or 'Investment Accounts' and then 'tick' / 'untick' particular lines
under the 'Investment' tab and/or under the 'Account' tab.

If the distinction between 'Shares' and 'Managed Funds' has any significance
in the handling of Capital Gains Tax computation, I don't know what it is. I
do CGT and taper relief adjustment outside Money.
