The value and quantity of shares shown for ADP stock tracked in my MS
portfolio artificially increased ~10% overnight from 10/8/07 to 10/9/07 (no
change in unit prices).
After investigating the reason, it appears this relates to what shows as a
111 to 100 stock split for 4/2/07, because all transactions prior to that
date now show 111% of their correct quantities.
ADP did not have a stock split on 4/2/07. On that date, they did spin off
Broadridge (ticker BR) as a separate company, but this should be accounted
for as a dividend, not as a stock split. The current MS portfolio tracking
is wrong in that it accounts for the BR transaction twice (both as a
dividend and as a stock split). The ADP web site (investor relations
section) shows that the last stock split for ADP was in 1999 - see
http://www.investquest.com/iq/a/adp/main/adpcpsplit.htm
Would someone please direct this to someone with database access so that
this incorrect 4/2/07 stock split is removed?
