Hello all , I wrote a message on the US Money usegroup and was ushered this
way ; THis is what I wrote previously :

I need to use a software package for my accounts . On the surface Money
should be the obvious answer . I hoped that with a few swift clicks in a
wizard , MSMoney would download all of my statement info from my 'high street
UK Bank' for the last 5 years and 'hey presto' !!??

Alas , the download is a US version (MoneyPlus08) and it doesn't have my
Bank listed. Then , having spoke to my Bank they offered a raised brow to my
plight and then .......fell back asleep claiming that no one had ever asked
for the statements electronically before .

Last quick point - am I being too demanding requiring live interaction
between money and the bank or has it been in a previous version of money.

Thanks all .....

Foxley

It has been pointed out to me that the Nationwide are the Bank to use as
they support such interactivity . Any more advise ?

The only UK Bank that has bothered to interface properly with Money is the
Nationwide. With the rest you have to go to their web-site, download a file
and then import that file into Money. Again with the rest there are no bill
paying facilities directly from Money. Each bank has different rules about
how far back in time you can go - most will do, at best, the last 6 months.

If you go to your Bank's web site and have a wander around you may find a
link to allow you to download.

Care to post your Bank as there might be a lurker who uses them and has done
what you want?

I started using Money recently, and I find it terrific. I had
previously used a PDA program, so I was familiar with the concept of
computer banking - but Money is far far more powerful. The links to
my banks & credit cards are the greatest benefit.

You need Money 2005, which is the most recent UK version. The later
versions are all USA only.

Look for a copy on ebay - it's bundled with Works 2005 which you can
pick up for under a tenner.

To sync a non-Nationwide account, your may be lucky enough to have a
bank that allows downloads in .ofx format - when asked to Open/Run or
Save the downloaded file, click Open/Run - it will then sync
automatically into Money. So it's really surprisingly easy.
Nationwide is even better - and they're a very good value for money
bank as well so worth considering, particularly if you travel abroad
as they don't charge commission on ATM cash withdrawls or debit card
transactions.

Oce I had everything setup, I was a lot more impressed than I thought
that I would be.

regards

TT
