Is the latest UK version 2005?
Amazon is out of stock at present, maybe waiting for a newer version.
I have Quicken 2002 and on deciding to update. found they don't sell it here
anymore.
I presume I can import my file from Quicken in to MS Money (Quicken is
working OK)

The latest UK version of Money is 2005 and earlier UK versions of Money are
better in certain respects.
Do you KNOW that Money has features, important to you, that Quicken 2002
does not have? Or do you just want to change?
Money includes a converter from Quicken. It is possible that old (pre 2002)
versions of Money would not convert your Quicken 2002 datafile.
My advice would be to buy a second-hand copy of Money 2002 through eBay, if
you think it is essential to migrate. If you are prepared to take a risk (of
Quicken conversion not working) go for Money 2001 or Money 2000 but do not
go earlier than that.

M2005 is the latest UK version although Amazon confusingly call it 2004 -
that was the year it was released.
Agree that Amazon per se are waiting for stock but there are other sellers
listed with it in stock.
We haven't heard of a newer version so don't hold your breath waiting.
Money version n can usually convert up to Quicken n-1.

Thanks for your response tebag (and Bob)
I thought this was probably the case from reading other posts.
No, I don't know that Money has anything I want. It was just the fear of
Quicken getting corrupted as I have a lot of data in it
(though I do backups, and backups of backups!)
In fact, I bought quicken instead of Money at the time as it seemed by far
the cleaner and faster program
Also the fact that if my machine goes phut, I was concerned about whether I
would have registration problems with Quicken (and the share price quotes
have just stopped updating) Maybe they have pulled the plug on it.
Sorry, rather a long answer to a short question.
Regards,
Jim

I think you might have registration problems, but someone who is currently
using it may be able to answer that correctly.
In the UK, Money is sold in 2 products - Money 2005 and in the Microsoft
Premium 2005 pack (which includes other software too), so check both

Jim,
I use Money 2000 and I have successfully installed it on a relatively new
3.2MHz PC running Windows XP. Whilst I was invited to register with
Microsoft, I did not do so on this PC (I had done so back in 2000 on my old
Windows 98SE PC). It all works perfectly.
According to the EULA (so I understand), the most recent versions of UK
Money will only permit Online Services downloads for a limited period of
time. Older versions of Money, including mine, do not have this restriction.
On Money, share price downloads work most of the time but not all the time.
Almost invariably the problem is with the server - but Microsoft, MSN and
Morningstar will not, as a rule, ever admit that it is their fault (the
fault of one of them).
It is not very likely that your Quicken program (as opposed to your data
file) will get corrupted; but if you have the original Quicken CD you should
be able to re-install, and you obviously have uncorrupt backups of your data
file. You should have no need to worry.
Good luck

Money 2005 may be available cheaply, but I would do as teabag suggested and
look for a 2nd hand 2002, preferably the Financial Suite version. That's
what I use, and haven't found any later version a worthwhile upgrade after
testing the trials of 2003, 4 and 5.

Teabag,
I'v tried re-installing on another machine and it works fine. Registration
appears to be optional in this version. The quotes are also downloading OK,
does not appear to be a time limit on the UK version (just had some naf
tickers in there).
Also found my backup was not backing up the right directory!, so a useful DR
exercise.
For interest, I downloaded the latest trial version of Money Deluxe (US
version) and that also imports the data and runs fine. Even displays £ sign
without any tweaking.
HOWEVER, I'm sure there are reasons not to use this with UK data so I won't
chance it. Shame because it is a cleaner interface and the reports are better.

Jim, if you just want simple account tracking and share prices (well I'd
rather not look right now), then you can use the US version. However if you
want to use the capital gains reports and so on then they will be built for
US accounting/tax laws.
Also "IF" MS produce a UK version in the future then it won't be able to
read your US version file.

I'm interested in downgrading to UK 2002. Is this a simple process?
For example, I can't imagine 2002 being able to read my 2005 file?

NOt really, unless you've only just upgraded. 2002 will not read a 2005 file
(or a 2003, 2004 for that matter). The way you'd need to do it is to use QIF
export/import (http://money.mvps.org/faq/article/28.aspx)
If you've recently upgraded and need to revert, then a saved copy of your
previous file will have been made which you could go back to.

Greetings Max,
Follow Glyn's advice, if you decide to go back.
You can make the validation process much easier if you have (the use of) 2
computers (desktops or laptops) sitting side by side - with one running
Money 2005 (or where you are now) and the other running the earlier version
that you choose to go back to. Simply scroll through each account and make
sure all transactions look exactly the same.
Good luck
