My share prices haven't updated for quite some time and I understand that
there was some limit to the length of time that the online services were
provided. As I posted earlier on this board, I've been using money for 10
years, I have many accounts and more than 200+ shares to price. It appears
that there isn't going to be a new version of UK money so I'm stuck with
2004. I tried downloading the trial of Money Plus Deluxe but it wouldn't
read my existing file.

So, the question for an MVP is as follows:

Can I continue to use money 2004 but subscribe to the data feeds? Or can I
use Money Plus Deluxe in some way? If I have to subscribe to the data feeds,
how do I do this? There's no information in the help file or online
regarding this.

Finally, are there any plans for producing an international version of Money
Plus? I realise that the UK (or Canada or French etc) markets for Money
aren't huge but there are a reasonable number of users out there who are
pretty dependent on Money and are going to be pretty screwed at some point.
Presumably it is likely that at some point in the future, an operating system
upgrade will kill Money 2004...

Sorry to ask such a long question but I am completely dependent on Money
2004 to manage my finances and I really need to sort this out fairly soon.

Thanks in advance.

My Money 2004 is still updating automatically. Sometimes when the Money site
has problems automatic updates are disabled in Money's Options and you may
need to re-enable them.

See Note 2 at the foot of
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/homepc/money/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=002 and
also http://money.msn.com/Money/2005/GBR/IBSP.asp . These are for Money
2005, but in practice older versions seem still to update automatically.

Money 2005 for the UK can still be bought. Later versions are for the US. It
is possible to transfer data, by exporting and importing it, but the US
versions will not read a UK version data file. It is thought unlikely that
there will be a new UK version, soon or at all, as the market is apparently
quite small.

I have Money 2004 and my share prices are updating just fine. Have you
some reason to think that MS have stopped providing you with a service
rather than there might be a problem with your installation?

My 2004 International version also still updates stock prices. I don't
know about software. I don't use Passport (after the episode 3 years ago).

I wish Microsoft would bring out a new non-US version, alongside the US
version. I think they leaving their international customers hanging, as
usual.

In fifty years time what you say is almost certainly bound to be true.
Microsoft COULD do it with their next OS that replaces Vista.
But in the next ten or perhaps twenty years I think it is extremely unlikely
that they WILL do so.
There would be a very high incentive for a 'third party' software company to
develop a converter which
could take you (all of us) from the last working version of Money to
whatever the new personal finance program was called.
All this IMHO

For the stock price issue - check that all of your symbols are still valid,
sometimes an invalid one will cause all to stop updating.
