I have used Money 12.0 (2004) since launch and versions of Money back to 1999
with no major problems apart from the occasional thing. I use online
downloads for NatWest, Amex and MBNA. In the last 10 days or so it has
started crashing ("Microsoft needs to close this program do you want to send
an error report") every time I complete the download. When I log back in the
downloaded data has been there apart from one occasion where I couldn't find
it. I do not use Passport, which from threads seems to have bee a recent
problem. All XP updates are current. Ideas?

Could be some sort of problem with the OFX download. If you can save the
file, check it through the ofx analyser (http://money.mvps.org/ofx.aspx).
Typically an unexpanded & causes the issue (should be &)

Glyn

I have the same problem with M2003 and need the data urgently. The parser
gave me to the following report:

*** All line number references do not include header lines ***
***OFX 1.02 Add ~10
***OFX 2.0 Add ~2
Running Data Through Parser
No Parse Errors

Reading Data Into Buffer
Tokenizing Data
Initializing Data Structures
Analyzing Data
Verifying Security Types
Verifying Security Uniqueness
Verifying FITID Uniqueness
ERROR: Duplicate FITID in :
200801160001

What can i do about it? Many thanks.

Two different transactions are not permitted to have the same
financial institution transaction ID (FITID). You could notify your
financial institution if you think they might act on it.

To work around this, you could change one of the
200801160001
strings to
200801160001B
(or anything else unique) using a text editor, such as Notepad, and
File->Import the modified file.

I edited the file - there were 7 doubled entries. When finished it passed
the parser test and when I tried to import it it seemed to work ok, but the
bank entries are not shown in the accounts. The accounts view says 'xx
entries to view' but when I click on them, no new entries are shown. Is
there anything else I can do?

Thanks,

Andy

In Internet Explorer delete your browser temporary files with
Tools->InternetOptions->DeleteFiles or
Tools->InternetOptions->Delete->DeleteFiles.

Then in Money do File->RepairMoneyFile->QuickFileRepair again.

Then go to Tools->Settings->OnlineServiceSetting and
select ShowStandardisedPayeeNamesForWhichANameIsNotFound. This
is a global (inter-file) setting.

File->Import again.

Cal

Ok, all went well until the 'Repair File' - it isn't on my File List. I am
using Money v11.0. Is there an alternative action for this version? I could
do the rest, but it has had no effect.

Thanks

That would be Money 2003.
Yes. Open Money with Start->Run and enter
"msmoney -s" without the quotes into the box.

Cal

I am afraid to ask if there is anything you don't know as I don't want the
naswer to be 'yes'!

I don't seem to be having much luck - it repairs the file and then as it
shows the log on to the .net password screen, it crashes and closes down.

Any clue what to do next?

Thanks for your continued help, it is really apppreciated.

No error message?

I would consider file repair as described in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902466

I would remove the .net (Passport) on at least a copy of your file
with a different name.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836197 may help.

If that did not fix things, I would consider reinstall Money. I
assume you are running XP.

No, just 'Money has stopped working and looking for a solution' before closing

Tried that - no change. Says 31 items to view, when you look at account,
none displayed. I downloaded another load of entries, which seemed to be
imported and it went up to 42; I went to try and view them and it crahsed.
when I went back in, it showed the account with no new entries. If I try the
command line error check and run it processes the file, then crashes the same
way (no error) when asking you to log in...

Tried that too - no help Sad

Ah - no, Vista Ultimate, but I have just tried all of the above on my XP PS2
box and same results. I will try a reinstall now.....

I did try to download the latest Money trial but it wouldn't convert the
file; when i tried to uninstall it the 'configuring money' wizard started
with each IE page opening, so I have just done a System restore to before I
installed it. Oh, the fun!

Thanks for your ongoign help.

I think you are referring to transactions to read within the file on
the account list rather than a message from the standard repair.

In Internet Explorer delete your browser temporary files with
Tools->InternetOptions->Delete->DeleteFiles.

Then in Money do File->RepairMoneyFile->QuickFileRepair again.

Then go to Tools->Settings->OnlineServiceSetting and
select ShowStandardizedPayeeNamesForWhichANameIsNotFound.

Download again.

Cal

Sorry, the repair utility log file only said 'Fixed records in online
table.' And the quick repair subsequently said 'No broken records in the
original file.'

I cleared the internet history and then set the option (which in 2003 is on
Tools Menu, options, Internet options) but still no luck.

The accounts view shows 41 entries in my current account and 22 in my credit
card to view, but when i click on either account, no new entries (usually in
bold) are shown. Even downloading a wider range of dates does not alter this.

As I have tried to download the latest version to see if it will cure it,
and it refuses to accept the file format saying it is not recognised as a
valid Money file, what are my other options?

Thanks

Andy

Panic over and thank you for all your help. Having tried everything, I
found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829143 which confirms everything you
said. The only extra thing it contained was to delete the statements and
redownlaod them and hey-presto - it works. I am relieved.

I really appreicate the time you have given me and for your great support.
Thank you.

With best wishes,

Andy
