Hi all

I just ran an archive to find that it does not seem to archive my share
dealing activities just general transactions. This means I have transactions
in my money file that are never archived ? any ideas ?

Archive is supposed to copy your Money file exactly as is and then delete
the date range from the Money file.

If you have followed the frequent discussions in the main money NG, you will
see that there are people who reckon that archiving is a waste of time and
has more bad side effects than good. The view of the posters seems to be why
bother and what benefits do you think archiving is going to bring?

I have never archived and have a Money file that goes back 94.

Investment transactions are not removed by archiving. Perhaps they
are thought to be necessary for establishing basis.

Be aware the "archive file" is just a copy of your file as existed
at the time of archiving. There is no practical way to re-integrate
that data into your continuing Money file. Most people, after
reflection, don't archive.

Thanks all,

Bob if the data goes back to 1994 is your money file not totally massive ?
does it not slow down performance etc ?

10.3mb with a simple collection of current account, savings account, medium
share portfolio and a fistful of credit cards ;-(

Performance is pretty good on a 660mhz CPU with 128kb RAM and XP Pro. No
noticeable waits/hangs.
